Decorate Your Trunk at our Trunk or Treat

Thank you for registering to host a trunk for our annual Trunk or Treat! We welcome you to be as creative as you like (remember, it should be kid-friendly). Guests will vote on their favorite trunks and tents, so keep that in mind while designing your area. Prizes will be awarded to the top three trunks.

Rules and Information

  • Arrival and setup: Trunk hosts may arrive and begin setup at 11:30 a.m., with the latest arrival at 1 p.m. Check in at the red MWR tent at the entrance of the Liberty Center parking lot (by the old bowling alley) to receive your parking assignment number.
  • Attendance: No more than six trunk hosts are permitted per trunk. At least one host representative must remain on site by their trunk at all times, including event setup, the entire event timeframe and cleanup. Early departure is not permitted, as it is dangerous for patrons.
  • Vehicles: All supporting vehicles offloading supplies must leave the area by 1:30 p.m. You are not required to bring a trunk; decorating a pop-up tent is allowed.
  • Placement requests: If you requested to be placed next to a friend’s trunk, please verify your request was made properly by 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.
  • Advertising: Non-federal entities (businesses, nonprofits, etc.) are prohibited from advertising at trunks. For sponsorship opportunities, please call 360-396-2449. FRG and Ombudsman groups may post their affiliated command, but no other advertisement is permitted.

Candy and Giveaways

  • Hosts are responsible for providing their own candy or toys.
  • Plan for at least 1,800 kids. Past events have drawn 2,000 to 3,000 attendees.
  • Toy-like items are allowed.
  • Homemade food items and pets of all kinds are strictly prohibited.

Contests and Prizes

  • Best Trunk: A prize will be awarded to the top three voted trunks. Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. You must be present to claim your prize. Trunk hosts cannot vote for their own trunk, and participants can only vote once.
  • Costume Contest: Trunk hosts can enter the costume contest between 2 and 2:25 p.m. Please do not leave your trunk unattended. You cannot win both best trunk and the costume contest.

  • Where do participants park? The fitness, commissary and The Anchor Lounge parking lots.
  • Will power be available? No power source will be available, but you may bring your own generator.
  • Are canopies or tables provided? No, but Bangor Community Recreation rents canopies, tables, chairs and other items.
