Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a time for all of us to speak up about domestic violence, raise awareness, and support survivors of this devastating but common issue. We at NBK strive to provide the resources, education, and support to our Fleet, our Families, and our Sailors to Unite to End Domestic Violence. We bring awareness to Respect all victims’ rights to report, support victims seeking help, and defend everyone’s right to a safe relationship.

3 WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

1. Did you notice the silhouettes or a clothesline around your base?
Each silhouette has a story that provides awareness of the dangerous outcomes of Domestic Violence. The clothesline displays a survivor’s perspective of a violent experience. Support the cause by posting a picture of yourself with the display using #PowerinPurple, during the month of October.

2. Wear purple at the #PowerinPurple Awareness Walk
Thursday, Oct. 28 • 6 p.m.

Meet up at West Sound Housing Management Center, 4168 Greenfish Drive, NBK-Bangor
If you can’t join the walk, you can still show your support on social media by tagging your own message of encouragement with #PowerinPurple. Wear purple and white to unify support to end Domestic Violence.
