[CLONE] Recreation Assistant, Fitness Center [2 positions]

This position assists in the gym operation and acts as a counter checkout person who issues uniforms and recreation gym equipment. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events. Privilege to shop at Navy Exchange!
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Incumbent is responsible for control and assistance in the operation of the Fitness Center. Position is a combination of counter checkout service and recreation duties requiring specific knowledge of sports equipment and facilities. Issues recreation equipment, uniforms, athletic equipment to authorized patrons ensuring that check-out slips are executed on all issued equipment. Verifies authorized patrons, ensuring each patron correctly checksin. Will collect fees and issue receipts for use of the fitness center/gym/pool and programs. Follows established policies and procedures for collecting fees and utilizing the Point of Sale/REC TRAC System. Maintains information files, records and receipts. Operates washer and dryer to keep uniforms, towels, soft goods, etc. clean and dry for issue. Assists with conducting events sponsored by the Fitness Center/Gym. Conducts regular indoor and outdoor facility checks to ensure good order and safety/cleanliness of buildings, grounds and equipment. Performs other related duties as necessary to meet mission requirements.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with public. Must be familiar with the general use of the materials and equipment related to the respective type activity. Must be capable of collecting and accurately recording cash transactions, and operating a cash register. Must be capable of learning/passing CPR, First Aid and AED training within 90 days of appointment to the position. Must be able to lift and have the physical stamina for various types of lifting, pushing and bending. This position is subject to security background check in accordance with federal regulations.
Conditions of Employment: Work is generally performed in a well-lit, properly ventilated athletic facility. Work involves frequent walking, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, and occasional moving and lifting of objects not exceeding 45 pounds in weight. Must be available to work on nights and weekends. To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction,which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce theCOVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees.
