Catering Manager
Location: Naval Base Kitsap
Pay Grade: NF-1101-03

Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent is responsible to manage conference/catering sales operation. Promotes conference/catering program and solicits new business through a variety of ways, makes calls in person, on the phone and through the use of the internet. Sets up meetings with clients to tour lodging and conference/catering venues. Makes recommendations, costs function, prepares contracts, signs and obtains clients signatures, deposits as required. Coordinates with appropriate personnel for catering needs. Plans events and works with catering staff to ensure successful execution of all events. Follow up with client for evaluation of services rendered and future booking opportunities. May assist with establishing catering prices and menu offerings, has input into annual catering and conference budget projections and strategic business plan. Utilizes specialized catering software to enter and monitor catering sales, purchases and other information related to conference/catering events. Uses other automated systems for property management, correspondence, accounting, budgeting and timekeeping. Trains, schedules work, appraise performance, counsels assigned personnel and recommends personnel actions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: Must have 3 years of experience that demonstrates progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical work involving application of a broad range of management principles, concepts and methodology to catering operations and sales. knowledge of catering. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred. Ability to perform the full-range of supervisory duties. Knowledge of DOD and Navy Fleet Readiness policies, regulation, administrative practices and procedures related to management, planning, some budgeting, scheduling and coordinating of special events and recreational programs and for efficient operation and use of assigned facilities and equipment. Skills necessary to assist customers in planning delivery of services. Knowledge of methods and procedures for purchasing food products, including proper storage to prevent spoilage and pilferage. Ability to prepare reports and complete simple contractual arrangements.
Conditions of Employment: This position is subject to background check in accordance with federal regulations. Must have valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain food handler’s permit, Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively (CARE) and First Aid and CPR certifications within the first 90 days of employment. Work is dynamic and non-sedentary in nature. There are walking, carrying and/or moving light items while inspecting Fleet Readiness operations. Maybe required to lift up to 45 lbs.
