CNRNW Tunes Into Summer Entertainment

3 Billboard-topping bands to perform

In the Pacific Northwest, rain jackets are shed and summer is savored as every minute to every day is planned to simply enjoy the outdoors. In celebration of summer, Commander, Navy Region Northwest (CNRNW) has invited three Top Billboard performing artists to showcase their passion for music and support of military service members and family members here.

The first concert is at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI). USO hosts Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band at 6 p.m., Friday, July 14, outside the NASWI Fitness Center. Lawn chairs, blankets, picnic dinners, and highly encouraged for this free, family-friendly event. Bounce House for the kids and food and beverages will be available for purchase. The second concert is at Naval Base Kitsap and will be featuring KONGOS! Most widely known for their hit, "Come With Me Now," KONGOS have been topping Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart for years. On Saturday, August 5, patrons can enjoy this free show at the Bremerton Parade Grounds. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the concert starts at 3:30 p.m.. Event is open lawn and patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, towels, etc. Pre-event activities to include: Opening Band ‘Colossal Boss’, a beer garden, and family-friendly activities (face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses). The last summer celebration event will be at NASWI’s 3rd annual MWR Customer Appreciation Picnic. Noon to 4 p.m., Friday, August 18, behind NASWI Fitness Center. Enjoy live music from the hit band Vertical Horizon! The band’s song ‘Everything You Want’ is included in Billboard Magazine’s Top 50 Adult Pop songs of all time! BBQ lunch (free for RIK; under $6 for all others), balloon twisters, beer garden, Captain’s Cup Cornhole, bounce houses, petting zoo, pony rides and more! Simple Minded Symphony, winner of First Annual Battle of the Bands and a local Oak Harbor favorite, will be the opener for Vertical Horizon! Learn more →
