Maintenance Worker

Location: Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton - Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF

Pay Grade: NA-4749-08

Introduction: This position is located at NBK Bremerton Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and IMF Employee Food Services.  The purpose of this position is to perform facilities maintenance work, involving two or more of the skilled trades. Incumbent performs intermediate level tasks and works more independently as training and experience increase.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving standard methods related to the operation and maintenance of physical building facilities.

Plumbing - Make basic repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves. Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers to include line ducts and vents.

Electrical - Recognizes and reports electrical problems. Makes repairs by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures.

Carpentry - Conducts basic carpentry repairs, applying general knowledge of wood, composite materials, wood substitutes and woodworking techniques, as well as basic shop mathematics.

Painting - Preparation of areas and standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying and ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from drips and runs.

Motor Vehicles - Maintain a schedule of the preventive maintenance of CMWR owned motor vehicles. Coordinate repair and maintenance with our contracted auto repair shops.

Qualifications: Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas (Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting). Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position is required.

Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrical equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safe work practices is required.

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
