Food Service Worker

Location: Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton & Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF

Pay Grade: NA-7408-01

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Incumbent will be working in the main production area of Employee Food Services. The primary purpose of this position is to perform all aspects of food production. Job duties include all aspect of production with training, guidance and assistance from the Production Supervisor. Prepare food, use wrapping machine, use correct containers for breakfast and lunch entrees, sandwiches, salads and various other items prepared in the production area. Maintains knowledge of food labeling, pricing, and packaging. Maintains safety and sanitation procedures/requirements with the training and guidance from the Production Supervisor. Cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen and production equipment and utensils, etc.. Other related duties as assigned.

CONTROL OVER THE POSITION: Authorization for extra duties will be made by the Production Supervisor. The employee will be under direct supervision by the Production Supervisor and answer to same for conflicts and evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be able to communicate in English. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or carry a minimum of 20 pounds up to 60 pounds. Constant standing and walking required.  Must be reliable, 18 years of age or older. Some experience desired and we will train.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work area is usually noisy and there may be a danger of slipping on sometimes slick/wet floors. Injuries are usually minor cuts and bruises. Light to moderate physical effort is required. Frequently lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Required to stand, stoop, twist, bend, and walk constantly.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check with written inquiries required.  Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required. Work is normally performed inside with adequate light, heat and fresh air.
